Arvind Kejriwal Ignores Third Summons, AAP Claims Probe Agency Notice Is Illegible

Arvind Kejriwal has refused to appear before the inquiry agency for the third time.

New Delhi, India – The Aam Aadmi Party declared today that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will not attend for questioning in the Delhi liquor policy issue. The AAP claimed that the summonses issued by the Enforcement Directorate were illegal and that the primary goal was to arrest Mr Kejriwal.
This was Mr Kejriwal’s third summons, after he refused to appear before the inquiry agency on two previous occasions, on November 2 and December 21.

The Aam Aadmi Party stated that while Mr Kejriwal was willing to cooperate with the agency, the summons was given with the objective of arresting him.

“Why was the notice sent so close to the elections?” The notice is an attempt to prevent Kejriwal from campaigning in elections, according to the party.

In April, the AAP chief was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with the matter, but he was not charged.

Since the initial summons was issued by the Enforcement Directorate, there has been widespread speculation that the Delhi chief minister would be arrested after being questioned by the agency. Several AAP leaders have also published statements along these lines.

Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was detained in February in connection with the matter, and AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh was arrested in October.
